Each participating editor or contributor draws up a list
of
titles
tied to the theme, representative of their own perspective. To
encourage
diversity overall, we only allow ourselves one or two albums
per
band. The lists are collected, and the first twenty albums
mentioned
are assigned a score: twenty points to the first in the order, nineteen to the next, and so on. If an
album
is mentioned by more than one participant, the points each one
receives
are added together. Ranking the titles starting from the one
with
the most points produces the final chart.
What you're reading, then, is a representation
of
the convergences and the plurality of views among Ondarock's
contributors.
It is not a chart put together at a desk, there are no
corrections or backroom quotas. The only agreed-upon element
is
given
by the rules above.
It's a game, and we hope the outcome intrigues readers
as much as it does the participants. For those who feel like digging
further,
then,
the individual editors' personal charts can be gold
mines of
discoveries. Happy exploring!
With its mesmerizing debut marked by Sardinian ancestral roots and modern musical forms, revelation Daniela Pes opens one of the most fascinating podiums in ondarock's history. Next come the ever-enduring shoegazers Slowdive with a melancholy, electronics-tinged return, while it falls to Turkey's Mabel Matiz to close out the unpredictable trio with a monumental work set to change the course of music in his country.
