Un altro ghosteen si aggira nella discografia di Nick Cave e Warren Ellis. Ha i tratti e le gesta di Marilyn Monroe. E sono raccontati in “Blonde“, pellicola tratta dal romanzo di Joyce Carol Oates disponibile in questi giorni sul catalogo Netflix, di cui i due hanno composto la colonna sonora.

 

Il sodalizio con il regista Andrew Dominik continua sul doppio fronte. Da un lato le colonne sonore che i due compongono per i film del regista australiano (“The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford”), dall’altro i documentari di quest’ultimo incentrati sulla produzione del Re Inchiostro. Dopo “One More Time With Feeling” (2016) sulla drammatica gestazione di “Skeleton Tree“, il cui bianco e nero nitido e potente è possibile riapprezzare in “Blonde”, quest’anno è stato rilasciato “This Much I Know To Be True”, intento a raccontare le recenti produzioni musicali dove la mano di Ellis si sente come non mai: “Carnage” e “Ghosteen“.

I suoni composti per “Blonde” richiamano proprio il periodo compositivo raccontato nel sopracitato documentario. Archi fluttuanti, sintetizzatori a volte celestiali a volte foschi e minacciosi, leggere tessiture culminanti nei cori rarefatti. Il tutto dedito a raccontare la travagliata storia della diva americana per eccellenza, interpretata da Ana de Armas. Dalle scene più forti (le sequenze di aborto, gli abusi), i momenti più allucinati e quelli più idilliaci (il periodo della Monroe passato insieme a Arthur Miller), ogni nota segue passo passo le immagini, fondendosi con esse.

 

In quest’ora di musica troviamo splendidi brani quali “Gemini” o “Goddess Of Love On A Subway”. Tra tutti spicca la struggente “Nembutal” (ovvero la versione strumentale della già nota “Earthlings“), presente più volte durante la visione e scelta, come indica già il titolo, per accompagnare l’ultimo riposo dell’attrice ormai diretta verso “A World Of Light”. E a chiudere il discorso, la presenza in versione strumentale di uno dei momenti più emozionanti di “Ghosteen”: “Bright Horses”.

Dopo l’altrettanto buona composizione dell’anno scorso intessuta per “La Panthère Des Neiges”, nel vasto catalogo delle loro soundtrack, “Blonde” è da annoverare tra le migliori firmate da Cave e Ellis.
