Nick Cave sings with Kylie Minogue in Brighton – Watch the video for “Where The Wild Roses Grow”

02-08-2026

Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue have reunited to sing “Where The Wild Roses Grow“ together again. It happened last night at Preston Park in Brighton, where the Australian popstar joined Cave and the Bad Seeds on stage in a surprise appearance to perform their celebrated 1995 duet in front of the crowd at the Wild God Tour. It was the first time the two artists had performed the song together since 2019, when Cave appeared as a guest at Minogue's Glastonbury Festival set.
Brighton was the latest stop in a collaboration the pair have brought back to the stage on several occasions over the years: after their performances in the Nineties, they sang the song together again in 2013, in 2018 and, indeed, in 2019.

After the concert, Kylie Minogue celebrated the reunion with a message posted on Instagram: “Nick Cave, I will forever be your Wild Rose. What a pleasure to get on stage with you for ‘Where the Wild Roses Grow’. Thank you to all the Bad Seeds for being so lovely and to Susie for my divine white lace dress (complete with white lace bodysuit and wild rose decorations). A fantastic crowd, a wonderful evening”. The thanks were addressed to Susie Cave, the musician's wife and designer for the label The Vampire’s Wife, who created the dress worn by the singer.

The collaboration between the two remains one of the most iconic in Australian music. Released as the lead single from “Murder Ballads“, the song casts Kylie Minogue as the ill-fated Eliza Day, victim of the narrator played by Cave, a role that at the time marked a turning point away from the singer's pop image. “Where The Wild Roses Grow” is also the biggest commercial hit of Nick Cave's career, and its famous video, with Minogue floating in the water, is an explicit nod to John Everett Millais' painting Ophelia.

Nick Cave's day in Brighton had already begun a few hours earlier with an unusual acoustic performance on the roof of the Resident Music record shop, during which the Bad Seeds played four songs, including the resurrected “Train Long-Suffering”, back in the setlist after 27 years, and a version of Cosmic Dancer” by T. Rex.
The European tour by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will continue throughout August, wrapping up on August 28 at Rock en Seine in Paris. Kylie Minogue, on the other hand, has no further shows scheduled for 2026, but has already announced her intention to go back on tour in 2027 to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of her career.
