Nick Cave talks about the new album with the Bad Seeds. An Italian date in June

23-04-2026

Nick Cave is back at work on new material with the Bad Seeds. In the midst of the tour, the Australian songwriter shared in his newsletter Red Hand Files how he's approaching this writing phase, between reading and a deliberate choice to isolate himself from the noise of social media: “I'm trying to limit the time I spend on my phone – no social media, as always, but also fewer podcasts, especially political ones,” he wrote. “All that endless, stressful politics can become a kind of agitating, deafening tinnitus. I find that tending to my own business in relative silence, paying attention to the things around me, and free from the incessant opinions of others, is good for the soul.”

The work is now focused on writing lyrics, ahead of the upcoming studio sessions with Warren Ellis: "Right now I'm back in my office writing lyrics, and I especially need silence, so that the words can find their way – and so that I have something to sing when I go into the studio next week with Warren to start what might, in some distant future, when all the stars align and the planets clap their hands with joy, become the next Bad Seeds record".

Nick Cave's latest album with the Bad Seeds, “Wild God“, came out at the end of summer 2024, followed in 2025 by the live album “Live God“. After dates in Australia and New Zealand in early 2026, the European tour will kick off on June 10 in Dublin and reach Italy on June 28 at the La Prima Estate festival in Lido di Camaiore.

Recently, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis also composed the original score for “Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole”, the Norwegian crime series airing on Netflix.

The collaboration between Nick Cave and Warren Ellis thus continues in noir territory: the two have already co-written numerous film scores together, from “La proposta” to “L'assassinio di Jesse James per mano del codardo Robert Ford” and “I segreti di Wind River”, developing a dark, atmospheric musical language well suited to the series' narrative world.
