AA.VV. - Simmetrie – Un omaggio agli Scisma

Alla faccia di un’Italy in preda a crisi economiche e disastri occupazionali, c’è un ragazzo di poco più di vent’anni che vive in una piccola cittadina del napoletano che sta creando un piccolo miracolo.

Si chiama Marco Gargiulo, gestisce un sito di informazione musicale, si è costruito un ufficio stampa, poi una piccola label e per passione si getta continuamente in nuove ardite e suggestive operazioni discografiche, tutte ideate, coordinate e realizzate in pressoché totale solitudine.

Poco più che adolescente è riuscito a mettere dentro un disco Giorgio Canali, Simona Gretchen e una sfilza di band emergenti che a distanza di qualche tempo stanno facendo parlare di sé, basti pensare alla visibilità ed al successo che sta riscuotendo Ilenia Volpe.

Quel disco, “Generazioni – Un omaggio al Santo Niente“, fu un meraviglioso tributo a una delle creature di Umberto Palazzo e rappresentò un tassello importante nel rilancio di un musicista fondamentale.

Marco Gargiulo si sta togliendo delle grandi soddisfazioni e ci sta anche prendendo gusto. Sì, perché dal 16 aprile 2012 sarà in commercio “Simmetrie”, un omaggio al percorso artistico degli Scisma, una delle formazioni di culto di quegli anni 90 che restano l’età d’oro della scena indipendente italiana.

La band che generò uno dei cantautori più importanti e sensibili dei nostri tempi, Paolo Benvegnù, il quale (secondo leggende metropolitane mai confermate) potrebbe essere presente ai cori in una delle tracce che compongono questo tributo.

Vi partecipano quattordici nomi (nessuno in comune con “Generazioni”) che hanno investito di tasca propria per essere presenti, in un desiderio di compartecipazione che ha coinvolto persino uno dei massimi esponenti del giornalismo musicale italiano, Federico Guglielmi, autore delle note interne.

Anche questa volta i due elementi di spicco vengono posti a inizio scaletta, sono meno altisonanti rispetto a Canali e Gretchen, ma rappresentano una scommessa già vinta: Il Disordine delle Cose (che hanno scelto di reinterpretare “L’amour”) aprono la festa con gusto e grande charme, sulle note di un pianoforte sontuoso; a seguire i Desert Motel assestano un colpo da grandi cerimonieri rivestendo di nuova verve “Tungsteno”, uno dei singoli più fortunati degli Scisma.

Da segnalare la presenza di Felpa, side project di Daniele Carretti degli Offlaga Disco Pax, che rivede “Armstrong” con un cantato prossimo al primo Godano, e lo splendore di “Simmetrie”, resa elegantemente dai Dilaila, il brano che dà il titolo all’intera raccolta e merita per questo una posizione di assoluta centralità nella scaletta.

Il tributo è ben equilibrato, fra brani più sostenuti (l’eccellente “Svecchiamento” dei Vanderlei, gli Es di “Centro”, Mimmiz dei Macno e Max Zanotti dei Deasonika che rielaborano “Troppo poco intelligente”, Andrea Carboni che fa delle dissonanze il punto forte di “Golf”, con tanto di chiusura cosmic style) ed altri più tenui e sognanti (i NORMAN de “L’universo”, la conclusiva “L’equilibrio” dei Dilis).

Non mancano alcuni downtempo sensazionali (su tutti “Jetsons High Speed” rivista dai Lefebvre) ed un paio di ottime virate verso l’elettronica (i Glitterball di “I Am The Ocean”, i Public de “L’innocenza”).

Forse da tanti giovani smaglianti avremmo potuto attenderci delle versioni mediamente meno fedeli agli originali, avremmo apprezzato un maggior rimescolamento delle carte, un po’ di personalità in più, senza sentirsi costretti di ossequiare rispettosamente Benvegnù e soci.

Sono in pochi a rischiarsela, e sono quelli che ottengono i risultati migliori – Desert Motel su tutti, che destrutturano e ricompongono “Tungsteno”, alla quale aggiungono una coda strumentale che rappresenta già un marchio di fabbrica, oppure gli esordienti assoluti Sexy Cool Audio che rendono irriconoscibilmente garage “Rosemary Plexiglas” plasmandola a propria immagine e somiglianza.

La missione può comunque dirsi assolutamente compiuta, ed è un piacere rispolverare molte canzoni che erano finite ingiustamente e colpevolmente nel dimenticatoio.

Il primo effetto sarà quello di andarsi a riascoltare gli originali, e chissà che la conseguenza di questa operazione non possa essere quella di rivedere Sara Mazo davanti ad un microfono, guidando una reunion (magari solo per un breve giro di concerti) considerata assolutamente improbabile fino a ieri.

Nel frattempo appuntatevi una manciata di nomi qui presenti: per molti di loro, ne siamo certi, riapriremo in futuro capitoli importanti.
