Proprio non vuole saperne William Bevan di regalarci un Lp. E va bene così. Anche se sognare che un giorno possa (ri)accadere, resta comunque lecito.

Altre due tracce, quindi, per il producer inglese. Due movimenti per arricchire un campionario di Ep ormai vastissimo. Ma se l’ultima uscita con il fido Kode 9 dello scorso anno, “Phoneglow/ Eyes Go Blank”, aveva mostrato segni di stanchezza evidenti, al netto della migliore performance del nostro rispetto a quella più annacquata di Goodman, stavolta l’imperativo è battere cassa, nel senso discotecaro del termine, ammesso (e concesso) che questa parola sia ancora in qualche modo parte del vocabolario attuale.

Con “Comafields/ Imaginary Festival” Burial torna alla pulsazione favolistica, al crescendo angelico che ha caratterizzato tante volte il suo passo. A cominciare proprio da “Comafields”, una sorta di “Loner” spedita nell’Eden piovoso di Bevan che ricorda tanto anche certe progressioni celesti alla The Field. C’è un sample di “Your Arms Around Me” di Jens Lekman e c’è soprattutto un cambio divino al decimo minuto che riporta Burial appunto ai tempi immacolati di “Kindred”, con la consueta vocina a condurci dentro il rave incompiuto, malinconico e ancora una volta imprendibile, tra stop&go indecifrabili che formano anche l’ossatura della successiva “Imaginary Festival”, nomen omen di un festino che non vuole cominciare, salvo poi spostarsi da qualche parte in cielo al quinto minuto, dando vita a una partitura metafisica che sfocia in un finale ambient quasi in scia Boards of Canada.

Tra alti e bassi, per l’esattezza tra momenti di gloria e pause, “Comafields/ Imaginary Festival” ci restituisce l’ennesimo Burial in uscita libera, saldamente ancorato alla propria idea di trance music sommersa tra il paradiso e il purgatorio.
