La logica imporrebbe “Streetlands” come naturale prosecuzione di “Antidawn Ep”, ossia il nuovo capitolo dell’imprecisato cammino di William Bevan verso una non-direzione. L’assenza di battito, i sospiri da metronomo tra le partiture, il deflusso incessante di rumori, a bramare talvolta l’abisso, altrove uno spazio impossibile. Ma per quanto l’approccio resti sostanzialmente affine al passato più o meno recente, in particolare nell’introduttiva “Hospital Chapel”, “Streetlands” espone qualcos’altro.

Sacralità, innanzitutto. Estasi dello spirito. Come d’altronde suggeriscono i cori tibetani quasi strozzati a mezza via nella title track. Preghiere da un universo parallelo che ha il suo ponte di Einstein-Rosen nell’anima di Burial. Nei suoi pensieri. E nel suo essere ancora una volta maledettamente sfuggente sul piano produttivo.

E’ un’imprevedibilità dei toni che tuttavia si assesta nella terza parte del movimento, toccando addirittura quote paradisiache, quantomeno a intermittenza.

Già, perché lo scopo di Burial è ascendere a scatti. Propendere verso l’alto senza mai azionare il protossido d’azoto, o nos se preferite, cullandosi in una sospensione perenne che diventa ansia di liberazione attraverso voci filtrate di angeli che volano nell’ombra.

 

Si diceva di una musica adirezionale. Stabile in ogni direzione come ioni. Elettrostatica che però si fa pulsante in “Exokind”, per un miracolo di mera progressive electronic ambientale. E’ la gioia che non t’aspetti in un disco spiritualmente catartico. La fuga verso l’immaginifico di un producer fuori dal mondo. Fuori da tutto. Sempre e comunque.
