BOB DYLAN - More Blood, More Tracks – The Bootleg Series Vol. 14

2018 (Columbia)
folk, singer-songwriter

Bottoni.

We always did feel the same

We just saw it from a different point of view

Funzionano solo i due blues speculari di “Meet Me In The Morning” e “Call Letter Blues”.

A change in the weather is known to be extreme

But what’s the sense of changing horses in midstream?

Il basso di Tony Brown diventa da lì in poi l’architrave su cui Dylan sviluppa le sue sessioni newyorkesi, sfornando le interpretazioni di “Shelter From The Storm”, “Simple Twist Of Fate”, “Buckets Of Rain” e “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go” destinate a finire nella versione definitiva dell’album.

Delle sessioni di registrazione improvvisate negli studi Sound 80 di Minneapolis, con un gruppo di musicisti locali, sono rimaste solo le cinque canzoni poi entrate nella scaletta definitiva di “Blood On The Tracks” (“Idiot Wind”, “You’re A Big Girl Now”, “Tangled Up In Blue”, “Lily, Rosemary And The Jack Of Hearts” e “If You See Her, Say Hello”).

Love is so simple, to quote a phrase

“C’est tellement simple, l’amour”, sospirava Arletty in “Les enfants du paradis”. Ci crede davvero, Dylan, quando fa eco a quelle parole in “You’re A Big Girl Now”? Ma a volte non è scontato neppure riuscire a portarsi il cibo alla bocca: “We’re idiots, babe/ It’s a wonder we can even feed ourselves”.

Andare controvento è la strada dell’amore, e non c’è strada più difficile: “We heard the sermon on the mount and I knew it was too complex”, confessa Dylan in “Up To Me”. “It didn’t amount to anything more than what the broken glass reflects”. Nessuno avrebbe potuto cantare quelle canzoni, se non dopo avere attraversato la via dolorosa: “No one else could play that tune, you know it was up to me”.
