Måneskin reunited at Sanremo, now it's official

31-08-2026

Måneskin will reunite on stage at the 2027 Sanremo Festival. Their presence was confirmed by Stefano De Martino, who will lead the event for the first time both as host and artistic director. The announcement came in an interview with TV Sorrisi e Canzoni, in which De Martino gave a preview of some elements of the upcoming edition: "Måneskin will be there, along with international stars." The statement thus confirms the reunion of Damiano David, Victoria De Angelis, Thomas Raggi and Ethan Torchio on the Ariston stage, following their recent solo endeavors.
For the Rome-based band, this would mark their first performance together since the long hiatus that followed “Rush!”, their third album, released in 2023. That break came after years of success: from their Sanremo win with “Zitti e buoni” in 2021, to their Eurovision triumph, all the way to their definitive international breakthrough.

In the meantime, Damiano David has embarked on his solo career, releasing the album “Funny Little Fears” and touring it across Italy and abroad. Måneskin's return to Sanremo, however, carries a particular symbolic weight: it was on the Ariston stage that the Rome band made the decisive leap of their career, before going on to win over audiences worldwide.
Their return together to the Ariston stage – more a reappearance than a reunion, since they never actually split up – will thus be one of the most anticipated moments of the first Sanremo Festival directed by Stefano De Martino.

Dua Lipa co-host rumours

Stefano De Martino is also aiming for a major international name for his debut at the helm of Sanremo. His sights are reportedly set on Dua Lipa, who could return to the Teatro Ariston not just as a musical guest but as co-host of one of the 2027 Festival's evenings. According to rumours relaunched by Adn Kronos, negotiations are said to already be at an advanced stage, although no official confirmation has come from Rai or the event's organisers.
The British singer of Kosovar-Albanian descent is no stranger to the Sanremo stage: back in 2020, during the first Festival helmed by Amadeus, she performed "Don't Start Now" backed by eight dancers. This time, her involvement would be far more extensive. It's not yet clear which evening she might be assigned to, but the main hypotheses point to the opening night, the final, or the new "performance night", during which Italy's Eurovision representative is expected to be chosen.
Her ties to the European competition could actually favour this last option: in 2022, Tap Music, the management company Dua Lipa was signed to, took part in selecting the UK's Eurovision entry for the BBC. At the moment, moreover, the pop star has no concerts scheduled during the Festival, set to run from 16 to 20 February 2027.

Dates and the new format

Sanremo 2027 will take place at the Teatro Ariston from Tuesday 16 to Saturday 20 February. The first change concerns how performances will be distributed: over the first two evenings, all contestants would present their song, doing away with the alternating-performance system used in some previous editions. Artists would thus be involved across all five evenings.
The cover songs contest would be moved up to Thursday 18 February. Each contestant will be able to choose an Italian or international song and perform it alongside one or more guests. The evening should retain its own separate ranking, without directly affecting the Festival's final result.
The main novelty could come on Friday 19 February with the "performance night". Singers will perform their competition entry again, but will be able to rework the arrangement and build a more spectacular show, drawing on dancers, stage sets and guests. During the evening, Italy's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest should also be chosen. Participation in the European competition would thus be separated from winning Sanremo, allowing artists to put forward an entry specifically designed for an international audience.
Saturday 20 February will instead see a return to the traditional format, with the final and the announcement of the winner of the 77th edition. Still to be settled are the composition of the juries, the weight of the televote and the other voting mechanisms, which will only be clarified once the official rules are published.

Possible contestants

The new artistic director is reportedly planning a contest with around 24 entrants, a smaller number than in recent editions. The aim would be to build a leaner, more contemporary Festival, lowering the average age of the line-up and giving more room to pop, urban, rap and independent scenes.
Among the possible returns to the Ariston are Mahmood, Elodie, Blanco, Emma Marrone, Achille Lauro, Tananai, Madame, Alfa and The Kolors. Among the new generation of artists being mentioned are Lucio Corsi, Settembre, Emma Nolde, Venerus, Samurai Jay, Sayf, Faccianuova and Tutti Fenomeni.
Particular attention would be given to rap and the urban scene. The names circulating most persistently are Tedua, Kid Yugi, Geolier and Salmo, alongside Nu Genea and La Niña.
Among the possible contenders is also Anna, one of the most successful Italian artists of recent years. The rapper has recently voiced her interest in Eurovision, inevitably fuelling speculation about a possible Sanremo debut.
