From The Smile to Fontaines D.C., from The Weeknd to Gilmour: the most interesting new releases

The Smile – “Don’t Get Me Started”

There's a new video for the unreleased Smile single, “Don't Get Me Started”. Included alongside “The Slip” on a limited-edition 12-inch vinyl, released exclusively in record stores, the track was originally previewed live during a run of shows earlier this year.

Now the release is rounded out by this video, featuring an ever-shifting environment, directed by audiovisual artist Weirdcore (Aphex Twin, Radiohead and The Caretaker). Watch it below:

David Gilmour – “Dark And Velvet Nights”

New single from David Gilmour. Ahead of his return to Italy after 8 years for a run of six Roman shows at the Circo Massimo in Rome (September 27, 28 and 29, October 1, 2 and 3) - a world premiere and his only continental European dates - the Pink Floyd guitarist has released “Dark And Velvet Nights”, the third preview track from “Luck And Strange”, his new studio album due out September 6. You can listen to it below:

Fontaines DC – “Here’s The Thing”

The third single from the imminent - and hotly anticipated - album “Romance” by Fontaines Dc has arrived, ahead of the record's release on August 23. It's called “Here's The Thing” and was written by the Irish band just days before they went into the studio to record the album, which will also be presented on tour in Italy (a single, already sold-out date on November 4 at Alcatraz in Milan). “It's an anxious melody that twists and turns on what it wants, back and forth between pain and numbness”, says Grian Chatten, the Dublin outfit's singer and frontman. Accompanying it is a video directed by filmmaker Luna Carmoon, which nods to the horror settings of Dario Argento's “Phenomena”, depicting a traditional Irish dance competition in which chaos reigns supreme.

Charli XCX - “Guess” Ft. Billie Eilish

Charli XCX has released a new version of “Guess”, the single from her latest album “Brat”, featuring Billie Eilish: the track has racked up millions of streams, surpassing fourteen plays on Spotify. The two Y2K style icons have also released an official video, which currently boasts over six million views on YouTube. Watch it below:

The Weeknd – “Unprepared Certainty…”

The Weeknd has shared a three-and-a-half-minute video set to unreleased music titled “Unprepared certainty...”, likely a preview of a forthcoming new album. The Canadian artist, born Abel Tesfaye, had already hinted at his return back in January, stating that his next, sixth record would be the final chapter of a trilogy that also includes the previous “After Hours” and “Dawn Fm”.
