Charli XCX

Charli XCX, born Charlotte Aitchison, is a British singer, songwriter and music producer. She was born on August 2, 1992 in Cambridge. Her career is marked by an innovative blend of electropop, pc music and dance, which has made her one of the most original voices on the contemporary music scene.

Charli XCX began her music career at a very young age, releasing her first mixtape, “14” (2008), while still a teenager. However, major success came in 2013 with her debut album “True Romance”, which showcased her fusion of pop and electronic experimentation. Despite a positive critical reception, the album didn't achieve major commercial success, but it nonetheless cemented her reputation as a promising artist to watch.

Charli XCX's real breakthrough came with the single “I Love It” (2012), a collaboration with Swedish duo Icona Pop, which became a worldwide hit, followed by “Boom Clap” (2014), another single that achieved considerable success, helped by its inclusion in the soundtrack of the film “The Fault in Our Stars”. This period marks the beginning of a collaboration with producers like A.G. Cook, which would lead to increasingly experimental music.

Charlotte's second album, “Sucker” (2014), is a mix of electro and power-pop, driven by tracks like “Break The Rules” and “Doing It”. Although it didn't reach the sales peak hoped for, the record confirmed her innovative flair within the mainstream pop scene.

In 2016, Charli XCX released the mixtape trilogy “Vroom Vroom” (2016), “Number 1 Angel” (2017) and “Pop 2” (2017), which mark her complete immersion into the most futuristic and experimental pop, in collaboration with artists like Troye Sivan and Carly Rae Jepsen. These mixtapes established her as a pioneer of the more alternative pop scene.

In 2019, Aitchison released the album “Charli” (2019), which gathers a series of hit singles such as “1999” with Troye Sivan, “Blame It on Your Love” and “Cross You Out” with Sky Ferreira. This record marks a return to electronic pop with strong elements of sonic experimentation, and is one of her most critically acclaimed works, with critics calling Charli XCX one of the most interesting voices of her generation.

In 2024, Charli XCX released “Brat”, an album that continues her exploration of futurist pop with trap and house influences, while also marking a return to more accessible sounds. The album was preceded by the single “Speed Of Sound” and was warmly received for its energy and bold approach to production.

In addition to the singles mentioned above, Charli XCX has also gained notoriety with tracks like “Boom Clap”, “Break The Rules”, “Boys”, “Track 10” and “Good Ones”. Her collaborations with artists like Lizzo, A.G. Cook, and Tiësto have further expanded her influence on contemporary pop.

In 2026 Charli XCX takes on her most ambitious project yet, composing the soundtrack for the umpteenth film remake of “Wuthering Heights”.
