BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - The Promise

2010 (Columbia)
rock, songwriter

On The Edge Of Town".

On The Edge Of Town". "When the promise is broken you go on living / But it steals something from down in your soul", mormora Springsteen tra le orchestrazioni di "The Promise", sorta di controcanto alle confuse speranze di "Thunder Road": un tesoro nascosto vagheggiato per anni, di cui in "18 Tracks" era stata inserita solo una rilettura pianistica appositamente registrata nel 1999.

"There's a prayer comin' through the air / Like a shot straight through my heart / Tearin' open the evening sky / Tearin' me apart": quella lacerazione di cui parla "Save My Love" è l'unico spiraglio capace di tenere viva la fame del cuore.
