In search of a new voice for Pink Floyd, but this time through a project directly tied to the family of Roger Waters. The former leader of the legendary English band has announced an open audition to select the frontman of a tribute tour led by his son Harry Waters. The project, set for 2027, is titled "Roger Waters Presents LEGACY – A Pink Floyd Show Performed by the Harry Waters Band" and comes with the tagline: "The father's legacy, the son's band".
In a message posted on his social media channels, Waters explained the point of the initiative: his son has already put together a solid lineup and a show devoted to the classic Pink Floyd repertoire, with possible forays into his own solo output as well. What's missing, though, is a key element: a lead voice capable of carrying the whole show.
Waters posted the following message on his social media channels: “My son Harry Waters has put together a great band and a show to go on tour next year and pay tribute to the music of the Pink Floyd golden era, and maybe a couple of songs from my later solo career. Harry's band is missing one thing: the voice I had when I was young. Back then, I could sing anything, from the soft urgency of 'Hello, is there anybody in there?' in Comfortably Numb, to the high-pitched scream of 'You know how I need you to beat to a pulp on a Saturday night' in Don't Leave Me Now”. Think you could pull it off? Are you the missing voice? If so, this is your chance. This is an open call to audition for Harry's band. I mean it”.
The band will feature Harry himself on keyboards and organ, alongside drummer Graham Broad, and promises a show built around the classics of the Floydian discography, designed to appeal to a broad audience.
The initiative also marks a reconciliation between father and son. In the past, Harry Waters had been excluded from his father's live lineup, going on to collaborate with the tribute act Brit Floyd. The tensions now seem to have been resolved, at least on a professional level.
