CSI: the compilation “In Viaggio 1994/1998” is out. The reunion tour kicks off in August

22-07-2026

CSI – Consorzio Suonatori Indipendenti return to travel the roads of Italy with "In Viaggio 1994/1998", a compilation celebrating one of the most intense chapters in their history, accompanying the band's return to the stage with their hugely anticipated reunion tour.
Available on physical formats and digitally, "In Viaggio 1994/1998" gathers some of the most representative tracks released between 1994 and 1997, drawing on three albums that left a deep mark on the history of Italian alternative music: "Ko de mondo" (1994), "Gothic Line" (1996) and "Tabula Rasa Elettrificata" (1997).

The collection

More than a simple anthology, the collection stands as the sonic portrait of a one-of-a-kind artistic season, during which CSI managed to fuse musical exploration, poetic tension and civic commitment, chronicling a country undergoing profound social and cultural transformation.
The title is taken from "In Viaggio", one of the emblematic tracks of that period, and perfectly sums up the spirit that has always driven the CSI project: an ongoing journey, both physical and inner, made of concerts, crossings, encounters and reflections on the present, never abandoning experimentation.

The tour dates

“In Viaggio 1994/1998” will be available from August 28 on all digital platforms, in record stores and online shops. The same day will also mark the start of the tour, produced and organized by OTR Live, which will kick off with a double date in Marzabotto before crossing six Italian cities. A tour that will bring the band back onto Italian stages for a series of concerts meant to celebrate one of the most significant experiences in Italian music of recent decades. On stage, CSI will revisit a body of work that left a deep mark on the history of Italian rock, restoring its expressive power and relevance intact. Here are the tour dates:

  • August 28 and 29 – Marzabotto (BO), Parco Storico di Monte Sole
  • August 31 – Villafranca (VR), Castello Scaligero
  • September 2 – Fasano (BR), Parco Archeologico di Egnazia
  • September 4 – Spello (PG), Villa Fidelia
  • September 8 – Alba (CN), Piazza Medford
  • September 12 – Catania, Villa Bellini

The places

The decision to start over from Montesole isn't just a geographical one. As guitarist Massimo Zamboni explained at the Casa della Memoria in Marzabotto, where the band presented its long-awaited reunion, "Montesole teaches you to stay silent. We went there with Guido Harari to shoot the photos for the tour announcement. We all stood in silence, for a long time, in front of the ruins. And we never took the photos. It's the world telling its own story, you just have to stand there and listen." This dimension has always belonged to CSI's music, rooted as it is in memory, history and the fractures of the twentieth century. Seven dates are planned, in venues far from the mainstream touring circuit and heavy with meaning: from Villafranca di Verona to Egnazia, from Spello to Alba, all the way to Catania. A journey that unites places and conscience, true to the band's identity.
Giovanni Lindo Ferretti reaffirms a clear distance from any didactic or militant purpose: "Montesole was meant to be a reading of Dossetti's writings," he said, recalling the band's last concert. "Demanding texts, because we wanted to pay tribute to the 'obedient monk', to give him complexity. Our songs as hymns to peace? Songs can be hymns to war or to peace, depending. You shouldn't ask songs to solve the world's problems. A song is a small thing, part of the mystery of life. And I try not to demean the mystery of life."

The anniversary

And yet CSI's body of work has cut through recent history like few others: "Gothic Line", released in 1996, remains one of the most radical records in Italian rock, tied to the memory of the Resistance, the war in the Balkans, the literature of Fenoglio and the vision of a fractured Europe.
The memory evoked by CSI is not a reconciled one. Both Ferretti and Zamboni recall family histories marked by war and by opposing choices, confirming an unresolved tension that has always run through the project. Born in 1992 from the ashes of CCCP, the band embodied the shift from the end of ideologies to the difficulty of inhabiting the present, right up to their breakup following the 1998 concerts in the Balkans. Today the reunion brings back together the historic line-up, with Giovanni Lindo Ferretti, Massimo Zamboni, Gianni Maroccolo, Ginevra Di Marco, Francesco Magnelli and Giorgio Canali. Tickets for the shows will be priced affordably, in keeping with a history that has always stayed on the fringes of the music industry. The project also includes a film directed by Davide Ferrario and already looks ahead to 2027, for a collective return meant to close the circle.
