The new album by Vinicio Capossela is titled “Milk Wood Bar”, due out on January 22, 2027 via Bmg. The record also marks the start of a new recording and publishing partnership between the singer-songwriter and the label.
The new songs will be previewed live in the coming days as part of “And Death Shall Have No Dominion”, Capossela's first ballad opera, debuting on October 3 and 4 at the Teatro Olimpico in Rome as part of the Romaeuropa Festival. The show will then continue in Italian theatres with a tour running through December 21.
The project springs from an encounter with the poetic universe of Dylan Thomas, and in particular with "Under Milk Wood", the Welsh writer's celebrated radio poem for voices, which the new album's title also explicitly references.
In “And Death Shall Have No Dominion”, Capossela will share the stage with Pierpaolo Capovilla, weaving together music, words and theatre in a choral narrative inspired by Thomas's poetry and his multifaceted portrayal of existence. The show, produced by Imarts, Fondazione Teatro Due Parma and La Cùpa, thus also becomes the first place to encounter Capossela's new recording chapter, just months ahead of the release of “Milk Wood Bar”.
