Vasco Rossi: the single "Marea" is out, followed by a live album. And the University of Salerno awards him an Honorary Doctorate

01-10-2026

"Marea", one of the most intense moments of Vasco Rossi's 2026 shows, arrives in a new live version. From 2 October, the single and official video for the track will be available, chosen as a preview of the album "Vasco Live 20|26 – The Essentials", out on 27 November.
Never performed live before this year, "Marea" had long been one of the songs most requested by fans. Vasco placed it in the second half of the show, before "Siamo soli" and "Se ti potessi dire", entrusting its new arrangement to Vince Pastano. The guitarist and music director called it "the darkest, most psychedelic moment of the show", in keeping with lyrics he describes as "a hell of the mind". The live video is directed by Pepsy Romanoff.

The live album

"Marea" thus opens "Vasco Live 20|26 – The Essentials", a collection of 17 tracks drawn from the 2026 shows and chosen mainly from rarities and songs never before performed live, all musically reworked by Pastano. The record will also feature songs like "Vado al massimo" and "Un mondo migliore", as part of a selection designed to capture the backbone and atmosphere of this year's show.
The release will also come with a discographic curiosity: Vasco will be the first Italian artist to use the Tiny Vinyl format, a four-inch record, smaller than a traditional 45 and played at 33 rpm. An exclusive edition on transparent blue vinyl, with "Marea" on one side and "Idea 77" on the other, will be reserved for two-year members of the Blasco Official Fan Club and will not be sold commercially.

The Doctorate in Salerno

A few days later, an academic honour will follow. On 7 October, the University of Salerno will award Vasco Rossi an Honorary Doctorate in Politics and Communication, recognising the significance his artistic career has taken on in the study of contemporary communication languages and processes. According to rector Virgilio D'Antonio, his career has managed not only to interpret its own era, but also to help define its "languages, imagery and forms of relationship".
