WILCO - Sky Blue Sky

2007 (Nonesuch)
folk-rock

Semplicemente.

Tweedy mostra nei testi un ritrovato equilibrio esistenziale, osserva la tempesta appena passata e canta il sollievo per esserne uscito (“Oh I Didn’t Die/ I Should Be Satisfied/ I Survived/That’s Good Enough For Now”), descrive la solitudine dell’amore così come la risolutezza necessaria all’artista per strappare quel piccolo brandello di bellezza che è il fine dell’arte (“If You Feel Like Singing A Song/ And You Want Other People To Sing Along/ Just Sing What You Feel/ Don’t Let Anyone Say It’s Wrong”).

Tastiere, chitarra e batteria duellano agonisticamente: camminano per mano nei momenti pacati e si impennano bruscamente in roboanti cavalcate prog-blues (“Shake It Off”), si calano forsennate nel southern-rock (“Walken”) e scrivono il pezzo mancante di “Blood On The Tracks” (“What Light”), oppure reinterpretano il verbo Jung-ian riportandolo a Woody Guthrie (“You Are My Face”).

And If The Whole World’s Singing Your Songs […] Just Remember What was Yours is Everyone’s From Now On”.
