The Cure, first live show in 2 years at Primavera Sound: the setlist and the concert video

06-06-2026

Two and a half hours without a break, twenty-nine songs and a sequence of classics, rarities and songs that still sound just as relevant decades on. At Primavera Sound in Barcelona, the Cure kicked off their 2026 European tour with a show that once again confirmed their extraordinary ability to cut across eras while staying true to their own identity.
Just glancing at the setlist was enough to raise some doubts about whether the show could hold up: almost three hours of music, with no breaks, drawing on a repertoire spanning most of the English band's career. On stage, though, any doubts quickly vanished. Led by a Robert Smith in great form, the Cure delivered a remarkably solid performance, opening the night with "Alone", taken from their latest album "Songs Of A Lost World", before ranging across more than forty years of musical history.

The Catalan date carried particular significance: besides marking the opening of the European tour, it also served as a prelude to the band's arrival in Italy for the June 14 show at Firenze Rocks. And for the occasion, there was no shortage of surprises that delighted fans.
Among the evening's most significant moments was the return of "Mint Car", played live for the first time in ten years, along with "alt.end", absent from setlists since 2018. Also added were "2 Late" and "Wrong Number", both dusted off after a long absence. These choices enriched an already classic-laden set and once again proved just how much of its expressive power the band's catalogue still retains.
Robert Smith didn't say much on stage. It was mostly the music doing the talking. From "Pictures of You" to "Lovesong", from "A Forest" to "Just Like Heaven", the concert alternated between melancholy atmospheres and moments of collective euphoria. Among the latter, one of the most gripping came with "Friday I'm in Love": at the first notes, the Primavera Sound crowd responded by singing along in unison, turning the song into one of the emotional peaks of the night.
The main set closed with "Endsong", already a highlight of the previous world tour, before giving way to a long encore built around some of the band's most beloved songs.
On stage, Robert Smith still appears completely immersed in his songs, able to sing and play for nearly three hours with a striking intensity. Proof of a career that remains fertile and vital even after nearly half a century of activity.
