CSI kick off their Mongolian two-year project with "CSI Mongolia": first date in July

05-06-2026

CSI officially kick off their two-year Mongolian project with “CSI Mongolia”, an international venture that opens a new artistic and narrative chapter for the band. The first date is set for July 4, 2026, when Massimo Zamboni and Giovanni Lindo Ferretti will take the stage at the Playtime Festival, one of Asia’s most important music events.
The choice of Mongolia carries deep symbolic weight. It was indeed that very country that inspired the journey leading to the creation of “Tabula Rasa Elettrificata“, one of the essential albums in CSI's history and among the most influential works of Italian rock. An experience that helped redefine the band's imagery, their relationship with the East, with history, and with the very concept of soundscape.

Nearly thirty years on, Ferretti and Zamboni are returning to those places for a journey that goes beyond mere celebration of the past. The Playtime Festival will also mark the start of filming for the documentary dedicated to the project, produced by Damocle and directed by Davide Ferrario. Joining them on stage will be LOSTATOBRADO, a Bologna-based experimental electronic collective made up of Alessio Vanni, Lorenzo Valdesalici and Lorenzo Marra, who have crafted new arrangements specifically for this performance.
The Mongolian date represents the first step of a journey set to unfold over two years, culminating in 2027 with a major CSI concert in Ulaanbaatar, the conclusive and symbolic event of a project that weaves together memory, contemporary creation and future prospects.
Conceived by Mad.e, an organization active in renewable energy and sustainability through the Progetto Sound initiative, together with the TriploSound Association and the Playtime Festival, “CSI Mongolia” positions itself as a cultural bridge between Italy and Mongolia. The initiative is carried out with the support of ATER Fondazione and the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing, which will host a performance by the artists at its auditorium.

Meanwhile, anticipation is building for CSI's upcoming Italian tour. The lineup will feature Simone Filippi on drums, and comes after the swift sell-out of the opening Marzabotto date and strong demand registered for the subsequent shows. LOSTATOBRADO will open every date of the tour, with the sole exception of the first of the two Marzabotto shows.
Following the sell-out of the August 28 Marzabotto show, the schedule includes: August 29 Marzabotto (7pm, new date), August 31 Villafranca, September 2 Fasano, September 8 Alba and September 12 Catania.
