St. Vincent performed covers of Depeche Mode, Jeff Buckley and other artists during an intimate concert in California – below you can watch some fan-shot footage from the show.
On Tuesday, March 3, the American musician played a surprise concert at the Little Saint in Healdsburg, California. Alongside songs from her own catalogue such as “New York”, “Los Ageless” and “Candy Darling”, St. Vincent was joined by keyboardist Rachel Eckroth.
During the California show St. Vincent also offered up several covers. After performing “Violent Times” (taken from her latest album, “All Born Screaming”, 2024), she delivered a solo rendition of Jeff Buckley’s “Grace”.
Later in the evening she also sang her own version of Rufus Wainwright's "Poses", along with the Depeche Mode classic "Personal Jesus", apparently requested by a fan. Closing out the run of covers was "Lush Life", a standard by jazz composer Billy Strayhorn.
This isn’t St. Vincent’s first time playing covers live: back in 2018 she performed Depeche Mode’s “Just Can’t Get Enough” together with Jack Antonoff of Bleachers. Antonoff produced St. Vincent’s 2017 album “MASSEDUCTION“. More recently, she also performed a cover of David Bowie’s “Young Americans” on Colbert’s show last December.
