After more than twelve years away from Italian stages, Dirty Three return to our country for a single show, set for Tuesday 27 October 2026 at the Teatro Comunale di Vicenza. The concert, scheduled for 9pm in the Sala Maggiore, will open the Australian band's new European tour and kick off the AMP Festival, a series devoted to the most original and experimental expressions of contemporary rock.
The trio, made up of Warren Ellis (violin), Mick Turner (guitar) and Jim White (drums), has built over the years an unmistakable musical language, suspended between folk, blues, post-rock, psychedelia and improvisation. Their compositions unfold through long instrumental digressions, alternating moments of delicate introspection with bursts of energy, with Ellis's violin leading a tight, unpredictable dialogue with guitar and drums.
The live dimension has always been the preferred terrain for the band behind "Ocean Songs", a group capable of turning every performance into an intense emotional experience, where the songs' structures expand and reinvent themselves through the spontaneous interplay between the three musicians.
The return to Italy comes two years after the release of "Love Changes Everything", the 2024 album that broke a twelve-year recording silence following 2012's "Toward The Low Sun". A record that confirmed the Australian group's ability to explore new expressive shades without giving up their identity.
In the meantime, Warren Ellis has further strengthened his artistic partnership with Nick Cave, standing alongside him in the Bad Seeds and Grinderman, as well as collaborating with him on the album "Carnage" and numerous film soundtracks.
The Vicenza show will thus offer the chance to rediscover one of the most original and influential instrumental rock outfits of the last thirty years, still able to combine improvisational freedom, emotional tension and a musical sensibility all its own.
