Tricky: the trip-hop pioneer in Italy for a single date

29-01-2026

Tricky will headline an exclusive concert in the Gardens of Triennale Milano, where he'll present a special set alongside vocalist Marta Zlakowska.

The pioneer of trip-hop, born Adrian Nicholas Matthews Thaws, will make a single stop in Italy on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Tickets, priced at €30.45 plus booking fee, will go on sale at 10am on Friday, January 30 via Ticketone, Ticketmaster, Tickets.triennale.org and DICE.fm.

The performance will be built as a reinterpretation of his classic repertoire, accompanied by a visual setup designed specifically for the occasion and by the constant presence of Marta Zlakowska, a voice that has already played a central role in the most recent evolutions of his artistic path.

After 2020's "Fall To Pieces", Tricky returned in 2024 with the Theis Thaws project and the album "Fifteen Days", made together with Paris-based producer Mike Theis. The work moves between electronica, synthwave and techno, and includes the singles "Frozen Rivers" and "Fly To The Ceiling", the latter also released in a remix version by David Holmes. Vocal contributions come from Rosa Rocca-Serra, Run Red and Lucy La Duskdei, all names tied to the False Idols label, founded by Thaws himself in 2013.

With African, Irish and Jamaican blood running through his veins, Adrian Thaws aka Tricky is a bluesman on loan to the rave generation, able to filter and manipulate the most disparate material. Heir to the entropic disorder of Sly Stone, Tricky remains a central hub of last century's music. While the aura of Massive Attack floated in the ether as a dreamy sound-system hypothesis, and Portishead confined their work of "active recycling" to lounge-jazz, soul and soundtracks for spy movies, Tricky is the black hole, the emotional-semiotic dumping ground of an entire sonic civilization. The ideal point of contact between dub, hip-hop, funk, electro, blues, gothic, synth-pop, indie-rock and much more. A devilish cherub who mocks labels and delights in keeping one foot in two camps ("high" art and pop culture, noise and melody). An isolated and otherwise unimaginable case of an "isolationist" b-boy. The most avant-garde "thing" ever spawned by the Bristol trip-hop scene.
