Sanremo 2026: songs flop on streaming platforms: -32% and no track past the million mark. Radio airplay also down

02-03-2026

The songs competing at the 2026 Sanremo Festival are off to a rocky start on digital platforms. Twenty-four hours after release, none of the Big contenders' tracks had topped one million streams on Spotify. It's a sign of a weaker launch compared to last year's edition, one that's also borne out by radio airplay data.

Streaming down: -32.79% compared to 2025

According to data released by Spotify and reported by the national press, the competing tracks racked up 17,378,654 total streams in their first 24 hours in 2026. In 2025, over the same time span, streams had reached 25,860,358. That's a drop of 32.79%, in line with the decline in TV ratings recorded during the Festival's evening broadcasts.

The most streamed track of this edition is "Male necessario" by Fedez and Marco Masini, sitting at 992,730 streams. Next come "Tu mi piaci tanto" by Sayf with 933,598 streams and "Prima che" by Nayt with 879,603.

Among the other titles: "Che fastidio!" by Ditonellapiaga (862,826 streams), "Labirinto" by Luchè (843,733) and "Qui con me" by Serena Brancale (839,829). None of the tracks made Spotify's daily global chart.

The comparison with 2025 is stark: "Balorda nostalgia" by Olly had topped 2,069,611 streams on its very first day. Also past the million mark were "Battito" by Fedez (1.8 million), "Damme 'na mano" by Tony Effe (1.4 million), "La cura per me" by Giorgia (1.25 million), "Fuorilegge" by Rose Villain (1.24 million), "Incoscienti giovani" by Achille Lauro (1.23 million), "Dimenticarsi alle 7" by Elodie (1.1 million), "La tana del granchio" by Bresh (1.08 million) and "La mia parola" by Shablo with Guè, Joshua and Tormento (1 million). The top six had also made Spotify's global Top 200.

Radio: fewer spins than in 2025

The radio side of things tells a similarly subdued story. According to EarOne figures, "Che fastidio!" by Ditonellapiaga leads the way with 490 spins, followed by "Male necessario" by Fedez and Masini and "I romantici" by Tommaso Paradiso, both at 390.

In 2025, two days after release, "Cuoricini" by Coma Cose had racked up 540 spins, "Incoscienti giovani" by Achille Lauro 475, and "Tu con chi fai l'amore" by The Kolors 450. The gap points to a slower radio uptake for this year's tracks.

YouTube and TikTok: the winner does well

On the video side, “Per sempre sì” by Sal Da Vinci, winner of this edition, stands out as a success. The music video racked up 290,000 views on YouTube in two days. The song also circulated well on TikTok, where around 15,000 users featured it in their content, recreating the dance routine performed on the Ariston stage.

The overall trend points to a less brilliant start for the 2026 Festival catalogue, at least in terms of the first 48 digital hours. It remains to be seen how things evolve in the coming weeks, when radio rotation, television performances and social media dynamics could affect the commercial trajectory of the singles.
