Pulp: listen to the new single “Begging For Change”

21-02-2026

Pulp have released their new track “Begging For Change”, a contribution to the charity compilation “Help(2)” promoted by War Child UK. The album will be out on March 6th and revives a historic project by the charity, once again putting the spotlight on the collaboration between the British music scene and humanitarian causes.

“Begging For Change” was recorded during the sessions for the 2025 album “More”, placing it within the same creative period that marked the band's return to recording under the leadership of Jarvis Cocker.

Curated by Brian Eno and released in 1995, the original “Help” became one of the most iconic and celebrated charity records in the history of contemporary music. The compilation featured major artists such as Oasis, Blur, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Portishead, Sinéad O’Connor, Paul McCartney, Paul Weller and many others, giving rise to a project that combined creative urgency with civic commitment. It raised £1.25 million to support children affected by the conflict in Bosnia. The following year, War Child and Pulp both found themselves nominated for the Mercury Prize: the band won and donated the entire cash prize to the organisation.

In a recent statement, Cocker recalled that gesture, stressing the continuity of the band's commitment: "Thirty years ago we gave our Mercury Prize (and the prize money) to War Child. This year we've given more. How much more? You'll have to wait to find out."

Conceived as the ideal follow-up to "HELP" (1995), "HELP(2)" revives the original spirit of the initiative: music recorded in a hurry, a stellar cast and one clear goal: supporting children affected by armed conflicts. As back then, the sessions took place at Abbey Road Studios, with James Ford in the producer's chair. Everything was recorded within a single week, in November 2025. The release is set for March 6th, with pre-orders already live.

Alongside "Opening Night", the collection alternates unreleased tracks and reinterpretations: Olivia Rodrigo reworks "The Book of Love" by Magnetic Fields, Fontaines D.C. take on "Black Boys on Mopeds" by Sinéad O'Connor, while the rest of the record lines up a particularly rich roster that includes, among others, Depeche Mode, Pulp, Beth Gibbons, Beck, Sampha, Big Thief, Wet Leg, King Krule, Foals, Arlo Parks and The Last Dinner Party.
