Madonna and U2 on Martin Garrix's new album: Bono even convinced him to start singing

23-10-2026

Martin Garrix is preparing his most personal album yet: “Marty”, due out on March 5, 2027 via Darkroom Records and his own STMPD RCRDS. The record will feature 14 tracks and high-profile collaborations with artists such as U2, Madonna, Ed Sheeran and Aitana, and will also mark his debut as a solo singer.
Although he already released “Sentio” in 2022, the Dutch producer considers this project his true debut in pop-dance territory: the previous one was, in his own words, a “club album”. The title revives his first DJ alias, while each song represents a chapter of his life, on a journey that runs from birth through to themes of the afterlife and rebirth.

Among the confirmed guests are Madonna on “Bizarre”, which already appeared on her “Confessions II“, U2 on “Fireflies” and Ed Sheeran on “Rewind Repeat It”, recorded over ten years ago. Aitana, meanwhile, features on Garrix's first-ever song in Spanish, still untitled. A collaboration with a K-pop group is also planned, though its name has not been announced.
The main novelty, however, concerns Garrix's own voice, which takes the lead on four songs, including the already-released “Catharina” and “This Dream Of You”. He was encouraged to do so by Bono, who listened to the early demos, gave him advice on his delivery and contributed to some of the lyrics. “There are some very personal songs on the album. It would feel strange for someone else to sing a song about my mother”, he explained to Rolling Stone, referring to “Catharina”.

Thirteen years after breaking through with “Animals”, Garrix wants to reveal a lesser-known side of his work, without giving up his festival-ready sound. “I write everything on guitar, I sing the demos... I'm happy to take people along on this journey. It doesn't mean I'll lose my DNA, but I want to grow”.
