Forty years after the release of “17 Re“, Litfiba commit to record the reunion of their historic 1980s line-up. After the release of the unreleased “17 Re”, left off the original album at the time and later issued as a maxi-single, and following the reissues of “17 Re” and the live album “12/5/87 (Aprite i Vostri Occhi)”, the Florentine band have now announced a new live album recorded during the ongoing anniversary tour.
“17 Re 1986-2026” will be released on 27 November on CD and double LP, documenting the twenty dates of the tour that kicked off last month in Perugia. Piero Pelù, Ghigo Renzulli, Antonio Aiazzi and Gianni Maroccolo have reunited on stage, the very lineup behind one of the defining albums of 1980s Italian rock. The live album features, for the first time in the band's history, a full performance of “17 Re”, alongside the eponymous title track later released as a single. The album is already available for pre-order.
The tour will continue throughout the summer with eighteen more dates still on the calendar:
Setlist
Here's the setlist generally played by Litfiba throughout the tour dates. A selection of songs focused above all on the band's fortunate new wave period in the 80s, which will delight the Tuscan outfit's longtime fans.
Encore
The concept behind Pelù and co.'s project stems from the desire to bring the content of those works up to date. "17 Re" becomes an explicit reflection on contemporary power balances, amid technocracy, global conflicts and democracies at risk. "This isn't a nostalgia trip," explains Piero Pelù. "That's proven by the very song that rises from the ashes of the old track left off the album. The melodies survived, along with parts of the lyrics and a fairly intact harmony, but in reality everything has changed: rhythm, beat, groove and spirit." The idea for the release took shape around the fortieth anniversary celebrations of the album, released in 1986, on the occasion of which the band will return to the stage starting June 27th for 20 dates with the original lineup (Piero Pelù, Ghigo Renzulli, Antonio Aiazzi, Gianni Maroccolo), something that hasn't happened since 2014.
