Premiered out of competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, “Piero Pelù. Rumore dentro” makes its television debut on Sky Documentaries on Monday, August 10 at 9:15 pm. The documentary will also be available to stream on NOW and on demand. Watch the official trailer below.
Directed by Francesco Fei, with story and screenplay written by Piero Pelù himself, the film recounts one of the toughest periods in the life of the Litfiba frontman. It all begins with the accident that occurred in October 2022, when, during a recording session, a technical error while switching headphones caused a violent acoustic shock, resulting in permanent damage to his acoustic nerve.
The consequences were severe: the tour was cancelled, followed by a long period marked by depression. That “noise inside”, however, also became the chance to stop, undertake a profound journey of personal rebirth, and shape the new album “Deserti”, born out of a total immersion into his own inner world.
The documentary follows Pelù through memories, relationships and music, highlighting the central role played by family, friends and travel in his recovery. A key moment in the story is the annual pilgrimage to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, in the Camargue, dedicated to Saint Sarah the Black, patron saint of travellers, a figure especially dear to the Florentine artist, whose name is tattooed on both his forearms.
“Rumore dentro” also traces over forty years of a career lived “off road”, painting the portrait of a free, nonconformist artist who has always stayed true to his convictions. Alongside Pelù appear his family, friends and collaborators, as well as longtime members of Litfiba, whose testimonies help reveal the more intimate, human side of the Tuscan musician.
