The historic compilation “M.U. – The Best Of Jethro Tull”, the first official greatest hits by Jethro Tull, is returning to stores to celebrate its fiftieth anniversary. Originally released in January 1976, the compilation will be reissued on July 31st in a new limited vinyl edition, personally curated by Ian Anderson.
The reissue features a new half-speed master, designed to further enhance the sound quality of the original recordings. The work was carried out by Miles Showell at the historic Abbey Road Studios, using the original master tapes.
The release is part of the “Spirit Of ’76” initiative promoted by Warner Music Group, a project dedicated to some of the most significant releases of 1976. Like all editions in the campaign, this one will be available exclusively through participating independent record stores.
Packaged with artwork faithful to the original edition, “M.U. – The Best Of Jethro Tull” collects tracks released between 1969 and 1975, offering an overview of one of the most creative periods of the British band. The tracklist features classics such as “Aqualung”, “Locomotive Breath”, “Living In The Past” and “Teacher”, alongside “Rainbow Blues”, at the time unreleased on an official album and also included in this new reissue.
