Interpol return with a new track: here's "See Out Loud". Two live dates in Italy

20-03-2026

The return of Interpol is taking shape on stage, with no advance announcements. On March 19, at Audio in São Paulo, the New York band surprised fans by slipping "See Out Loud" into the setlist, an unreleased track never performed before. A choice that breaks the continuity of recent shows, built mainly around consolidated repertoire, and one that concretely ushers in a new phase.

"See Out Loud" moves along recognizable coordinates, but with a more dynamic setup. The rhythm is tight, the tension builds progressively, and the impact recalls works like "Antics" and "El Pintor". Paul Banks keeps the track under control with his usual presence, while Daniel Kessler also finds room on vocals, a rare touch, inserted in a synth passage that sets up the song's opening into a more pronounced crescendo.

Back in 2024 Banks had already signaled a change in method, telling NME about a return to more shared songwriting, built on studio work and ongoing dialogue between the members. "See Out Loud" reflects this approach: a more direct sound, with an evident rhythmic drive and a less layered construction. After a phase of stylistic consolidation, Interpol seem to be moving toward greater expressive immediacy, while keeping the distinctive traits of their sound intact.

The New York band is working on a new album, already recorded with contributions from drummer Sam Fogarino. The musician, however, will not be able to take part in the upcoming shows: he is still recovering from the cervical spine surgery he underwent in 2023, an operation that had already forced him to miss several recent live dates.

For the upcoming live shows, drums duties will be handled by Urian Hackney, a musician previously seen alongside Iggy Pop, Rough Francis and The Armed.

In a message posted on social media, the band informed fans of the situation: “We're happy to tell you that new music is on the way. We can't wait to share it with you. Sam wrote and played on the new record with us, but he's not able to join us on tour right now. In the meantime, we're honored to announce that Urian Hackney will be joining us on drums. Check out what he does – it's incredible. Stay tuned for updates.”

Meanwhile, Interpol are busy with a series of shows across South and North America. In May the tour will continue in Oceania, while in July the band will return to Europe. Two Italian dates are set: July 15 at Visarno Arena in Florence, as an opening act for My Chemical Romance, and the following day, July 16, in Bologna.

In November the band will head back to Europe once again for a co-headlining tour with Bloc Party.
