Giardini di Mirò: "Quasi casa", the live recording of their last Cavriago show, is out now. The tracklist

A sound document that stayed hidden for three years, resurfacing almost by chance. It's called “Quasi casa” and it's the new chapter in the story of the Giardini di Mirò: the full recording of the Emilian band's final concert, released on June 19 in a limited double-vinyl edition.
Ahead of the release, the album will be presented at two public listening sessions: on June 16 at 7pm at Voce Triennale in Milan, featuring journalist Tommaso Toma, and on June 17 at 6.30pm at Tropical Balera in Bologna, in conversation with Hamilton Santià.
“Quasi Casa” collects the recording of the show held on March 19, 2023 at Circolo Kessel in Cavriago, the town where it all began in the late Nineties. No one that night knew it would be the band's last concert. The date was simply the closing show of the "Voiceless" tour, dedicated to the band's instrumental repertoire and born out of the release of the suite “Del Tutto Illusorio”.

The choice of venue makes that recording even more significant today. It was in the Kessel's very rooms that Giardini di Mirò took their first steps, writing and rehearsing much of the material that would go on to shape their discography. “That's the venue where we started rehearsing and writing songs,” recall Corrado Nuccini and Jukka Reverberi. “That's where the first tracks of 'Rise And Fall Of Academic Drifting' were born, then 'Punk… Not Diet!', 'Dividing Opinions', 'Good Luck', 'Different Times', all the way to 'Del tutto illusorio'. Even our first EP, 'Iceberg Ep', was recorded there. That's where everything began, and, by some incredible twist of fate, that's also where everything came to an end.”

Among the roughly two hundred people in the room that night was also Markus Mathis, the band's longtime collaborator, who recorded the entire concert. That material lay forgotten for a long time, only to resurface after the band's split was announced, turning into a precious piece of their story.
Spread across four sides and accompanied by photographic and text material, “Quasi Casa” offers more than seventy minutes of entirely instrumental music, spanning over twenty years of activity. From their early repertoire to their most recent compositions, the album traces the trajectory of a band that played a decisive role in spreading post-rock and its various offshoots across the Italian independent scene.

Over the course of their career, Giardini di Mirò have built a personal musical language, capable of weaving together psychedelia, electronica, shoegaze and instrumental rock into soundscapes of striking emotional intensity. Over a thousand concerts in Italy and abroad, plus a discography spanning albums, soundtracks, EPs and international collaborations, have cemented their role as a touchstone for an entire generation of musicians and listeners.
For Nuccini and Reverberi, the meaning of this release goes beyond its mere documentary value: “We started out in the late Nineties with the idea that making music could improve our lives, first and foremost our own. Giardini di Mirò were born in a season when many bands were searching for a kind of musical journey marked by a utopian drive. Few words, often in English, music that was skewed and open, aimed at a broad idea of community and sharing. Our decision to stop isn't just about our own personal paths. It's about recognizing that the context we came from has changed to the point of almost disappearing. But this record is here to remind us that we made something beautiful, and that we built a coherent artistic journey, one still able to withstand the passage of time.”
