David Byrne joined Anna Calvi onstage during two dates of his British tour “Who Is The Sky?“, treating the audience to a new rendition of “Strange Weather”, the song the two had recorded together back in 2014.
Calvi, who served as opening act for Byrne's shows at Halifax's Piece Hall (July 18) and Cardiff Castle (July 26), invited the former Talking Heads frontman up onstage to revisit their version of the song by French-Israeli singer-songwriter Keren Ann, originally released on the covers EP “Strange Weather”.
After the Halifax show, the British singer-songwriter marked the reunion with a message on social media: “It was an honour to share the stage with David Byrne last week at the Piece Hall. It was truly inspiring to perform 'Strange Weather' with him once again. Thank you Halifax”.
The collaboration between Byrne and Calvi dates back to 2014, when they recorded the song for the British guitarist and singer-songwriter's EP of the same name. Byrne is currently on tour presenting “Who Is The Sky?“, his latest studio album, released last September and his first solo work since 2018's “American Utopia”. The record features collaborations with Hayley Williams, St. Vincent and Tom Skinner of Smile. This autumn, the former Talking Heads frontman will also be in the UK for a series of events dedicated to his new book “Sleeping Beauties”.
Anna Calvi, meanwhile, released the collaborative EP "Is This All There Is?" in March, made together with Matt Berninger, Laurie Anderson, Iggy Pop and Perfume Genius. In 2026 she also contributed to the charity album “HELP(2)” in aid of War Child, which is nominated for this year's Mercury Prize.
