The Bluvertigo reunion could soon lead to a new chapter in the studio as well. Twenty-seven years after “Zero – ovvero la famosa nevicata dell’85”, the band's last album of original material, Morgan has revealed that the group has been working on new material and already has a huge amount of songs ready.
The news comes as Bluvertigo prepare to wrap up their reunion tour with a show at the Kozel Carroponte in Sesto San Giovanni, where several guests are expected, including Alice and Enzo Iacchetti. The band's return, then, doesn't seem destined to end with the live shows.
Morgan himself confirmed as much in an interview with Radio Capital: “We've been working on new material. The songs are already written…”. The frontman then added a rather striking detail: the songs written so far apparently number 91. At the moment, neither the title of the project nor a possible release date has been announced, and it remains to be seen how much of this vast repertoire will actually make it onto the new album.
If the record does see the light of day, it will be Bluvertigo's first album of original material since 1999, the year “Zero – ovvero la famosa nevicata dell’85” came out. Two years later came the compilation “Pop Tools”, while in 2003 Morgan officially launched his solo career with “Canzoni dell’appartamento”.
This isn't the first time a new Bluvertigo album has seemed to be on the horizon. Back in 2015, following the reunion that began the previous year, Morgan had announced a new album titled “Tuono – Tono, tempo, suono”, describing it as a work meant to mark a sharp break from the band's past: “It will be a break from Bluvertigo's past. We need to break with the past, otherwise I – as a person and as an artist – would already be dead. The sound will be varied and diverse, it'll be a record full of influences and things never heard before. It'll be something completely new, because new things break with tradition; because new things are hard and that's why they're not understood; because we need to get used to dissonance, we can't take any more consonance”.
That project, however, never made it to store shelves. In 2016 Bluvertigo nonetheless returned to the spotlight, taking part in the Sanremo Festival with “Semplicemente”, fifteen years after their previous appearance with “L’assenzio”. The song was eliminated before the final.
Now Morgan's new announcement reopens a story that had been left hanging for over two decades.
