Rosalia, working on new material while still in high demand as a model and brand ambassador

05-09-2024

Two and a half years after the release of her most recent album, the best seller "Motomami", in 2024 Rosalia has been making headlines more as a model and brand ambassador for successful labels than as a singer. After being chosen as the face of Dior, with her images currently towering over striking views of some of the world's most important cities, just these past few days new photos have been released shot for Highsnobiety, the fashion and lifestyle brand that encompasses a publishing arm, a creative consultancy studio and a commercial platform. Highsnobiety publishes a magazine twice a year that combines fashion and culture, art and music, aimed at a young target audience of global consumers.

The cover star of the issue just released is Rosalia, pictured defying the force of gravity. Inside the magazine, alongside the stunning photos, there's also an interview with the Catalan music icon, which touches on the musical direction she's currently pursuing. Rosalia avoids giving away any real details about her next record, but admits she has started working on new material: "I've changed a lot, but at the same time the same things keep swirling around in my head. It's a process: it's as if I still have the same questions and the same urge to find answers. I still hold on to the same love for the past and the same curiosity about the future."

Rather evasive answers, which nonetheless hint at news on the way heading into 2025. Pressed on the main influences inspiring her at the moment, the Spanish singer replied: "The biggest influences I have right now come less from listening to music and more from reading books."

Speaking about the look she sported while promoting "Motomami", Rosalia explained: "I've always had a particular attraction to motorcycle helmets, which I incorporated into the cover of "Motomami", into the music videos and the shows. It was my intention to use any kind of motorcycle gear or accessory to build the "Motomami" look. It's something very personal, because both my father and my mother are motorcyclists, so we're talking about an imagery I grew up with, one I've been immersed in ever since I was very young."

Rosalia has recently released a new single, "New Woman", alongside Thai singer, rapper and dancer Lisa, still a member of the hugely successful South Korean quartet Blackpink.
