CHECCO CURCI - L’amore non ha cuore

Checco Curci is a singer-songwriter from Puglia, born and raised in Noci, in the province of Bari, who moved to Milan in 2005 to specialize in Urban Planning, a subject he currently teaches at the Politecnico in the Lombard capital. Alongside this, Curci has developed an interesting artistic path as a musician, one that began back in his school days chasing the sirens of britpop, before evolving into a distinctly personal form of songwriting, intimate and introspective in tone. A first milestone came in 2023, with the release of his debut album “Anche solo per un saluto”, made under the artistic supervision of Riccardo Sinigallia, a name that alone is a guarantee of quality. “L'amore non ha cuore” is his second project: eight songs steeped in disillusionment, probing the fragility and consequences of love.

A delicate work with autumnal colors, sung almost in a whisper, never raising its voice, a kind of instruction manual on emotional education, to be consulted in an attempt to understand love, learn to nurture it and perhaps forgive its cruelties. That heartless love which gives the album its title makes for an intense record, once again made with Sinigallia's contribution and produced by Francesco Piro. Curci's storytelling aims to explore life's small and large wounds, but without indulging in melodrama, relying instead on refined arrangements built on piano textures and guitar inlays, drawing on the lessons of Battiato and the Panella-era Battisti, as well summed up by the single “Non si torna indietro”.

Curci probes the suffering that stems from risky, painful, at times even pathetic loves — stories that pretty much everyone has stumbled into at some point, and which, all things considered, help us grow, even as they leave deep wounds, sometimes permanent ones.
