Nine Inch Nails have expanded their lineup with the addition of bassist Stu “Bassie” Brooks, who made his live debut at the opening show of the “Peel It Back 2026” tour at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
The 47-year-old Canadian musician spoke enthusiastically about his new role alongside Trent Reznor: “I'm thrilled. It's a huge honor to play with these musicians and to have an opportunity like this”.
According to Guitar World, Brooks is a founding member of Dub Trio and has worked throughout his career with artists including Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill and 50 Cent. His work isn't limited to bass: he took part in Danny Elfman's 2021 album “Big Mess” and was a member of the house band on the TV show Saturday Night Live.
The New Orleans show featured twenty-one songs. The setlist also included “Non-Entity”, played live for the first time since 2009, and a cover of “I’m Afraid Of Americans”, written by David Bowie and Brian Eno and originally released on the 1997 album “Earthling”.
