Thirty Seconds To Mars: Jared Leto accused of sexual harassment by ten women

31-07-2026

New trouble for Jared Leto, frontman of Thirty Seconds To Mars, as well as an Oscar-winning actor (for “Dallas Buyers Club”). Ten women have accused him of harassment and sexual assault in the BBC documentary “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret”. The testimonies describe alleged episodes that took place between 2002 and 2016, when the singer and actor was between 30 and 44 years old. In several cases, according to the accounts, the women were minors at the time of the events. Leto has denied all the accusations, calling them “completely false”.
The documentary gathers the testimonies of ten women, four of whom directly accuse Leto of sexual assault or harassing behaviour. The BBC states that it verified part of the accounts through photographs, messages, documents and interviews with friends and family members whom the women had confided in at the time.

Among the most damning testimonies is that of Isabel, who says she met Leto at the Las Vegas store where she worked when she was 17. After the singer left her the address of a motel, she went there thinking they would go out together. According to her account, once in the room Leto invited her into the bathroom while he was showering, started kissing her and forced her into a sexual act. Isabel recounts that she got out of the situation by asking to leave, and that the singer only let her go after making sure there was no one in the corridor. Another woman claims to have had sex with Leto in California in 2006, when she was 17 and he was 34. The meeting was allegedly arranged by one of the artist's associates after a Thirty Seconds To Mars concert. According to her testimony, when she pointed out to him that the age of consent in that state was 18, Leto simply “shrugged”, showing total indifference.
Among those interviewed is also Etta, who says she met Leto in 2014 at a Los Angeles modelling agency when she was 16. The actor allegedly got her email address first, promising to help her career, and then her phone number. From that point on, she says, came insistent phone calls involving harassment and requests for sexual acts.
The other women describe insistent phone calls and sexually charged conversations. The documentary also features two men who worked for years with Thirty Seconds to Mars and who say they felt deeply uncomfortable about the relationship Leto had with teenage fans, who were frequently invited backstage, into dressing rooms and recording studios.

After the documentary aired, the actor's representatives released a statement in which Jared Leto categorically denies all the accusations. "I have never engaged in sexual assault against anyone," the singer states, calling all the testimonies completely false.
