Talking Heads reunite again for SiriusXM

18-09-2026

Talking Heads will reunite again at the end of September. David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison and Tina Weymouth will be together in public once more on September 28th in New York, for the launch of “Talking Heads Radio”, SiriusXM's new channel devoted entirely to the band's history and music.
The four musicians will take part in a live Q&A in front of an audience, hosted by Este Haim of Haim. The conversation will then air on October 1st, the day the channel launches, which will remain available on car-installed SiriusXM satellite radios until October 22nd and on the app until October 31st. The programming will trace five decades of Talking Heads music.

This marks a new public reunion for the classic lineup following the one in 2023, when Byrne, Frantz, Harrison and Weymouth came together for the first time in over twenty years. The occasion was the Toronto International Film Festival, where they took part in a panel celebrating the anniversary of "Stop Making Sense," the celebrated concert film directed by Jonathan Demme. Asked at the time about the possibility of a comeback, Weymouth simply replied: “Stiamo semplicemente assaporando il momento”.
The prospect of an actual musical reunion, however, remains distant. In 2022 Frantz revealed that he had tried several times to convince Byrne to reform the band: “I tried a couple of times, and the last was about 20 years ago. After that, David simply told me: 'I never want you to ask me that question again.' Non affronterò la questione’. It's a shame, and that's how things stand”. Byrne himself, interviewed by the "Times" in 2025, further dampened expectations: “On a practical level, trying to recreate the feeling people had when they were barely in their twenties, when they first heard that music? È una missione impossibile. And besides, I'm having a lot of fun with what I'm doing”.

The September 28th event doesn't, then, point towards the announcement of a tour or new shows, at least for now. It will instead be another rare chance to see the four Talking Heads together again and hear them look back on a story that left a deep mark on rock and new wave between the second half of the 1970s and the 1980s.
