Sombr returns with a new single, “My Body Isn’t Ready,” an intense, vulnerable ballad in which he tackles issues of self-esteem, body image and his own insecurities without any filters. The track, written and co-produced entirely by the American artist, comes across as an emotional anthem dedicated to anyone struggling to accept themselves. “I hope this song can mean different things to different people,” Sombr explained. “It can be interpreted as a metaphor, or literally, as a description of how I've perceived my body my entire life.” Sombr's aim is to turn a personal experience into a message of comfort for those going through similar struggles. “I wanted to tell my story of struggle so that other people going through the same thing know they're not alone. You are beautiful and I love you.” The single comes with a video directed by Gus Black and starring actors Inde Navarrette and Josh Heuston.

In the chorus, Sombr describes how his conflicted relationship with his own body ends up affecting his love life too: “Mi piaci, ma il mio corpo non è pronto/ Ti desidero, ma lo specchio non me lo permette/ Cerco di essere la persona che ti aspetti/ Ma non sono pronto”. Later on he adds another particularly evocative image: “If I could crawl out of my skin, would you let me in?”.
“My Body Isn't Ready” was performed live for the first time on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The song follows the singles “Homewrecker” and “Potential”, released in recent months, continuing the path started with the debut album “I Barely Know Her”, already named Album of the Month on OndaRock, out last summer.
In the coming months Sombr will be busy with a headlining tour across North America and will play at numerous international festivals, including Reading & Leeds, Sziget, Rock En Seine and Electric Picnic. Back in April, he also surprised the Coachella crowd by performing alongside Billy Corgan and Billy Idol, as well as offering a cover of a Radiohead classic.
