The Sex Pistols have added a new Italian date to their summer calendar. The historic British band, back on stages steadily since 2024 with Glen Matlock, Paul Cook and Steve Jones joined by Frank Carter on vocals, will play in Milan on June 26, 2026 at the Parco della Musica.
The concert follows other dates already confirmed in the country: after their appearance at the AMA Music Festival in 2024 and the show scheduled for 25 June 2026 at the Oversound Music Festival in Bari, the band brings this lineup to the Lombard capital for the first time. The tour is part of the "50 Years of Punk" celebrations, tied to the anniversary of the release of "Anarchy in the U.K.", their debut single, released in 1976.
The band's new live phase is unfolding alongside the never-fully-resolved tensions with former frontman John Lydon, but their live activity keeps intensifying regardless. Tickets for the Milan date will be available from 26 March at 10am on TicketOne: 50 euros plus booking fee for standard admission, 70 euros plus fee for the pit.
The prospect of new music also remains open. In recent months Glen Matlock confirmed that the possibility of going into the studio with Frank Carter has been discussed internally, though without concrete developments: the band has ideas, but live commitments have so far prevented them from working on it in a structured way. Moreover, the band is questioning how much real demand there actually is among fans for new songs.
For his part, John Lydon has flatly condemned this new chapter of the historic English punk outfit: the former Johnny Rotten said he is “shocked at how horrible” the Sex Pistols' shows are in their new incarnation made up of Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock, alongside Frank Carter. “It's hard work being an impersonator” Lydon continued. “It's a ridiculous position to be in, if it isn't already. What value system is he operating under?”. He also stated that these live shows are comparable to “karaoke”. What's more, the former frontman of the band behind “Never Mind The Bollocks” unleashed all his fury at Carter: “He doesn't understand any of those lyrics. He couldn't, because if he understood them he wouldn't do it. He'd be ashamed to impersonate someone else and pretend that the original author and 'Personality of the Year' award winner didn't exist”.
Even faced with the possibility of rejoining the band, John Lydon was categorical: “After using Walt Disney's financial backing to mock me in court, while Nora (Lydon's wife, who died in 2023, ed.) was dying, and they knew it, that was, to me, a wicked thing to do that I cannot easily forgive. And why should I? I won't be doing them any favours. Not ever.”
