Salmo, stage name of Maurizio Pisciottu, was born in Olbia on June 29, 1984. Before turning to rap he played in hardcore, metal and stoner bands, experiences that proved decisive for his musical identity. In 2011 he made his solo debut with “The Island Chainsaw Massacre”, establishing a distinctive crossover between hip-hop and rock. With “Death USB” and especially “Midnite” he earned a leading place on the Italian rap scene. Definitive recognition came with 2016's “Hellvisback”, driven by tracks like “1984” and “Russell Crowe”. “Playlists“, released in 2018, further expanded his success thanks in part to the hit “The Sky in the Room”.
In 2021 he returned with “Flop“, an album focused on mistakes and the less triumphant side of fame.
Two years later he made “CVLT“, a project with dark atmospheres and horror imagery, together with Noyz Narcos. His latest album of new material is 2025's “Ranch”, his seventh solo effort, split between crossover energy, introspection and autobiographical storytelling. In 2026 he also celebrated one of his landmark albums with “Hellvisback 10 Years Later”, featuring three previously unreleased tracks.
