Rush: their best albums ranked, according to Mojo magazine

11-05-2026

British magazine Mojo has published an in-depth feature on Rush, ranking what it considers to be the best albums by the Canadian band.

“Formed in Toronto in 1968 and active until 2015, Rush started out as aspiring heirs to Led Zeppelin and ended up as the nerds who conquered the world – writes James McNair in the introduction – Their long road to critical and cultural rehabilitation ran through grandiloquent prog and the influences of British new wave, as Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart gradually learned to wear their virtuosity lightly, right up to the last technical tour de force of 2012's 'Clockwork Angels'… In their story – Mojo continues – there was no happy ending. In his 2023 autobiography 'My Effin' Life', Geddy Lee revealed that he and Lifeson kept Peart's illness secret for three years, respecting the drummer's wishes; Peart died of brain cancer in January 2020. Prior to that, Rush had bowed out with the celebrated 2015 US tour 'R40', marking Peart's forty years in the band.”
