The Raccoon Music Award, the contest dedicated to the best emerging under-30 scene, is entering its crucial phase. On Friday, March 13th, the stage of Rome's Wishlist Club will host the first of two semifinals, a pivotal date to determine who will compete for a spot in the final on June 13th at Monk.
The initiative, which sees OndaRock as an official partner in promotion and on the jury, aims to give voice to original, well-structured projects, offering a genuine showcase for new independent music.
The evening: between sure things and surprises
Opening the night will be the rock of young act Sine Mora and another act whose name will only be revealed shortly before the show. Then comes the real contest: six artists will go head to head in 12-minute sets each, in an evening designed to break down the barriers between stage and audience (strictly standing room only) to foster a more direct listening experience.
The contenders
This first semifinal's lineup spans a range of genres and attitudes:
Jury and voting procedure
Judging the performances will be a jury made up of Paolo Chemnitz (OndaRock editor), together with representatives from Radio Rock and the label Alfa Music. The verdict, however, will be the result of a joint effort: the audience vote will also be decisive and will be factored in alongside the technical score.
There will be plenty of interactive moments between sets, with quizzes and games offering prizes up for grabs for those in attendance.
