Kurt Vile ha annunciato un nuovo Ep: “Speed, Sound, Lonely KV (ep)”. Il mini-album uscirà il prossimo 2 ottobre via Matado e sarà composto da cinque tracce. Due di queste sono nuovi brani registrati da Vile (“Dandelion” e “Pearls”), alle quali si aggiungono due cover di John Prine, “Speed of the Sound of Loneliness” (1996) e “How Lucky” (1979). Nell’ultima canzone figura anche il compianto cantautore americano, scomparso di recente a causa del Covid-19. Chiude l’Ep il brano “Gone Girl” originariamente registrato da “Cowboy” Jack Clement.

“Speed, Sound, Lonely KV (ep)” è stato registrato assieme al produttore di Nashville David “Fergie” Ferguson. Dopo il primo giorno di registrazione, Ferguson introdusse Vile a Prine e tre anni più tardi i due registrarono insieme il brano “How Lucky”. “La verità è che John è stato a lungo il mio eroe, sin da quando l’ho visto entrare negli studios per registrare insieme a me uno dei suoi migliori classici”, ha scritto Vile in una nota alla stampa.
