FKA twigs closes the chapter on the "Body High Tour" with a new single. The British singer has released "On Your Mind", a pulsing electro track made in collaboration with Lil Yachty, her first new solo material since "Eusexua Afterglow", the reworking of her album "Eusexua" released in 2025.
In a lengthy message posted on Instagram, FKA twigs recounted the genesis of the track, born out of the cancellation of her Coachella performance last year. The artist explained that she wrote the song after discovering that some members of her team wouldn't be able to join her in the United States, making it impossible for her to take part in the festival. "I stayed late in rehearsal, practising almost obsessively in the hope that the news wasn't true, denying to myself that I wouldn't be able to cross the ocean to perform for my incredible, loyal fans. I thought that if I just trained a little more, somehow I'd make it happen," she recalled. The singer went on to add: "It never stops surprising me how pain can transform into the most powerful, euphoric sounds. I think writing songs like this keeps me alert and reminds me that I'm not in control of everything."
In presenting the single, FKA twigs linked the track to the conclusion of her recent arena tour across Europe and the United States: "After completing my first arena tour across the US and Europe, it felt like the perfect moment to release this song and celebrate what we artists can overcome when we believe in ourselves and others believe in us. I feel full of gratitude. Thank you to everyone who came to see BODY HIGH, thank you for continuing to grow with me. Thank you for what we're building together. Everything happens for a reason, and my reason for making music and art will always be you."
2026 is proving to be an especially intense year for FKA twigs. Besides releasing "On Your Mind" and touring, she has composed the score for the film "Mother Mary", starring Anne Hathaway, been cast to play Josephine Baker in an upcoming biopic, and launched legal action against a band with the same name over a trademark dispute.
