Faith No More, official reunion: first shows in 2027 after over 10 years, with System Of A Down

27-07-2026

Faith No More are officially back in action. After years of uncertainty, discouraging statements and a long hiatus, Mike Patton's band has announced four shows in Australia and New Zealand alongside System Of A Down. These will be the group's first live performances since 2016.
The reunion had been hinted at back in June with a cryptic social media post, but confirmation came on July 26th: Faith No More and System Of A Down will co-headline four major stadium shows between January and February 2027. No further dates have been announced for now, though the news has already fuelled hopes of a wider tour.

It's yet another chapter in a story marked by break-ups and comebacks. Having joined the line-up permanently in 1988, Mike Patton led Faith No More through their most celebrated era, up until the band's split in 1998. The group reunited in 2009 and gradually resumed live activity in the years that followed, eventually releasing "Sol Invictus" in 2015, their first studio album in 18 years. In 2016 there was also a brief reunion with former singer Chuck Mosley, who passed away the following year.
Another comeback was planned for 2020, but the shows were cancelled due to the pandemic and later rescheduled for 2021. Those dates too were called off, this time because of mental health issues Patton was dealing with. The singer would later reveal that he had suffered from agoraphobia and gone through a period marked by alcohol abuse.

In the years that followed, Patton never really stepped away from music. He resumed activity with Dead Cross, kept performing with Mr. Bungle, and in February 2026 returned to the stage with Tomahawk as well, for their first show in thirteen years.
As for the future of Faith No More, however, the signals had been anything but reassuring. Bill Gould and Mike Bordin had voiced serious doubts about the possibility of the band being active again, while keyboardist Roddy Bottum had spoken explicitly of a "semi-permanent hiatus". The announcement of the new shows thus overturns a scenario that had seemed headed towards an indefinite suspension.

For now, the return of Faith No More remains limited to four dates with System Of A Down. But after more than a decade away from the stage, the reunion inevitably reopens the question of a possible international tour.
