Two Italian dates for America's Algiers

30-06-2022
Musically, Algiers renews the clamor of punk while giving itself over to gospel, which becomes an apocalyptic groove into which soul, industrial and cascades of synth are grafted.
Without aiming for a masterpiece, the album is a unique sonic experience, overwhelming in its authenticity. Franklin James Fisher sings as if Nick Cave had been born in Africa, or as if PJ Harvey were impersonating Nina Simone, dragging even the less fiery passages toward a purifying catharsis; on "Blood" he even seizes the graces of pop-soul, scratching and shaking it the way you would a spoiled child.
With these words, back in 2015, we welcomed the debut of Algiers on the pages of Ondarock. Now the Atlanta band is in the midst of a long tour ahead of the release of their new album, expected in early 2023. There are no fewer than two Italian dates: July 7th in Soliera as part of the Arti Vive festival, and July 8th, when the American band will play the LARS ROCK FESTIVAL in Chiusi (Siena), part of a three-day music event also featuring Porridge Radio, Faust, Winstons, Duke Garwood and many others, alongside Algiers. The lineup also includes a show by Tallest Man On Earth, to be held in Castiglione Del Lago (Pg) on July 5th. All Lars Rock Festival concerts are free admission.
