More than a decade after “Tomorrow's Harvest“, Boards Of Canada are back with a new album. The Scottish duo have announced “Inferno”, due out May 29 on Warp (preorder here), breaking a recording silence that had lasted since 2013.
No full single has been released yet: the first concrete clue is a 42-second teaser shared today, hinting at a return to the band's usual ambiguous, layered sonic textures. You can listen to it below.
The announcement comes after a run-up built in oblique fashion: earlier this month some fans received VHS tapes containing hard-to-decipher audio and video material, followed by the release of a file titled “Tape 05”, whose nature was never clarified.
