From Depeche Mode to Burial: the most interesting new releases

Future Islands – “The Thief”

Less than a week after the release of their new album “People Who Aren't There Anymore“, the follow-up to “As Long As You Are“, the Future Islands have shared the video for “The Thief”, the third single taken from the record after “The Tower” and “Say Goodbye“. The Baltimore band, fronted by Samuel T. Herring, has also announced a North American tour running from June through late September.

Depeche Mode –  “Before We Drawn”

The Depeche Mode have released the video for “Before We Drown”, taken from their fifteenth album “Memento Mori“, out last March. The clip was directed by Dutch filmmaker Anton Corbijn, who also served as creative director on the video for the previous single “Wagging Tongue”. In the track, as throughout the whole record, Dave Gahan reflects on the theme of life set against death, elevating his voice at its best with backing harmonies from Martin Gore.

 

Elbow – “Lovers’ Leap”

Three years after their previous record “Flying Dream 1“, Elbow return on March 22 with their tenth album, “Audio Vertigo”, out via Polydor/Universal. “A record made of squalid, nauseating grooves created by us playing together in garage rooms – as frontman Guy Garvey ironically describes it – not meant to make you think, but to distract from the bad things happening in the world”. As a preview of the album, the Mancunian band has shared the new single “Lovers’ Leap”.

 

…A Toys Orchestra – “Life Starts Tomorrow”

…A Toys Orchestra have announced the release date of their new album “Midnight Again”, their ninth studio effort, due out on March 22. The Italian band has chosen “Life Stars Tomorrow” as the first single, a blues-rock track with a mature, assured sound and clear gospel, R&B and soul influences.

 

Pet Shop Boys – “Loneliness”

Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe's Pet Shop Boys will soon return with a new ten-track album titled “Nonetheless”, out April 26 on Parlophone Records, produced by the renowned James Ford, who has previously worked with major bands and artists such as Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Blur and Gorillaz.

 

Burial – “Dreamfear”

Burial has produced a new twelve-minute track titled “Dreamfear”, alongside important news for fans of his music: the artist is parting ways with the Hyperdub label and joining the roster of XL Recordings, which released the debut albums of Adele, Radiohead and The Smile.

Billy Joel – “Turn The Lights Back On”

To the delight of Billy Joel fans, the artist has released his first single in seventeen years, written together with Freddy Wexler, Arthur Bacon and Wayne Hector. The artist has also announced additional tour dates throughout the year with Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac and Sting.

Lil Yachty – "A Cold Sunday"

Lil Yachty has shared a new track titled "A Cold Sunday", produced by Aris Tatalovich and accompanied by a music video directed by AMD Visuals. Over the past month, the Atlanta rapper has collaborated with Faye Webster and Chief Keef, while last year he released major features such as "Another Late Night" with Drake and "The Secret Recipe" with J. Cole.
