Yard Act
Yard Act are an English post-punk band from Leeds made up of James Smith (vocals), Ryan Needham (bass), George Townend (drums) and Sammy Robinson (guitar).
After a series of singles that between 2020 and 2021 grew their following, it's with the EP "Dark Days" that Yard Act make their first major leap in quality, propelling the band onto the bill of the best summer festivals with incendiary live sets and earning positive reviews from the specialist press.
Driven by frontman James Smith's singular and brazen sprechgesang, Yard Act channel with irony, wit and sharp edges the discontent of disenchanted British youth, eager to find something to hold onto in building a less frustrating future.
The full-length debut "The Overload" confirms expectations, developing with greater coherence the themes already laid out previously, while opening up more towards catchier sounds compared to their rougher earliest efforts.
