Shaking Hand are a young trio from Manchester made up of George Hunter (vocals/guitar), Freddie Hunter (drums) and Ellis Hodgkiss (bass), who emerged within the Melodic Records orbit with an alt-rock sound that crosses post-rock with math nerve, without gloss or showy virtuosity. At the core are guitar architectures and rhythmic interlocking that work through friction and micro-variations, with a seventies-style rigor in handling dynamics and restarts.
After the single "Over The Coals", in 2026 they release their self-titled debut album, recorded with David Pye at Nave Studios in Leeds (a converted church), aiming for a broad, credible physical sound designed to hold up live as well. The live-take session at Low Four Studio in Manchester points in the same direction, showing just how well their mechanism works without any crutches. A project still growing, but already capable of fusing recognizable references into a personal, sharply focused vision.
